"Staci's Cooking with Class"

Fabulous Food from our trip thru New England

Below you'll find lots of thumbnail pictures of some of the restaurants we visited and food we sampled.

We were in...
Gettysburg, PA
Washington D.C.
Philadelphia, PA
Boston, MA
York Beach, ME

The food was fabulous, the people unique and fun and, oh yeah, we saw some pretty cool historical stuff including some really big house in DC!!

On our way to Hershey PA, we stopped at World Famous Primanti Bros. in Pittsburgh. They are famous for their overstuffed sandwiches which include the meat of your choice (and I added a fried egg), plus fries, cole slaw and tomatoes. Don't want to drive to Pittsburgh? Well, Luckys near Wrigley Field in Chicago copied Primanti's and the sandwiches are silmilar, but Primanti's cole slaw is better!!
Primanti's is located in the warehouse district where there is lots of shopping--very cool! The line was down the street at 2pm on a Saturday. Unbelieveable, but we only waited about 15 inutes for a table.

In Gettysburg, we ate at a Pub on the Square--really good Muffaletta on Foccacia!

In DC, we ate at Ming's in Chinatown. Hannah is pictured shoveling in crab sushi. It was half-price happy hour so she was eating all the sushi she could--I couldn't get the camera out fast enough!
Also in DC, we ate at Capitol Q on H Street in Chinatown--probably the best BBQ I have ever eaten--including my own! Not pictured because we went their directly from our White House tour and didn't have a camera available.

I think we all agreed that Philly is the place to go if you love to eat!

We had the most amazing Philly Cheesesteak Sandwiches at Jim's Steaks on South St. Best I've ever eaten and best of all of them we had in Philly.
Don't want to travel to Philly? Well, Philly Way in Milwaukee was voted best cheesesteak sandwiches in America outside of Philly. And they are good!!

Found alot of the restaurants we ate at thru our 2 favorite shows...Diners, Drive-ins and Dives and Man vs. Food--Thanks alot Guy and Adam!!
Silk City Diner in Philly was featured on DDD for its upscale diner food and trendy atmosphere. I had a Pasta dish with tomatos, shrimp, mushrooms etc and a cocktail made with Ginger Beer, Mark had Pork Stuffed Ravioli (they were amazing!) and Marissa and Hannah both had their gourmet version of Mac n Cheese with garlic crumb topping and caesar salad. We finished dinner with Banana & Chocolate Brioche Bread Pudding--oh my gosh!

We also stopped at the Franklin Fountain, featured on Man vs. Food. This is a very old, very well known soda fountain in Philly. Great ice cream!

Another place we loved in Philly was the Reading Terminal Market. Take the Milwaukee Public Market and multiply it 6 times and you might get close to the size of Reading--its a foodies dream!! Fortunately for my family I knew right where I wanted to eat, so it didn't take me 2 hours to decide (that will come in Boston).
We ate at Tommy DiNics (another Man vs Food recommendation) for their Roast Pork Sandwich with Garlicky Broccoli Rabe. Wow!

In Boston, we visited Sam Adams Brewery. Yes, it was 10am when we visited and no, I don't think that's wrong!

Also, in Boston, we found the Quincy Market at Fanuiel Hall--very much like the Reading Terminal Markey in Philly. I ate at the Boston Chowder Co. I feasted on Shrimp & Corn Chowder and a Shrimp Sandwich (and yes, it took an hour or so just to decide what to eat!).

Found a great little Italian Market along the Freedom Trail.

Also ate at the World Famous Barking Crab on the Wharf in Boston. Hannah is pictured with her bucket of crab legs--notice the intense concentration! Mark & I each had a crabcake sandwich and we finished with Boston Cream Pie--which was made individually rather than sliced from a whole cake.

We finished up our vacation on a beach in Maine--beautiful!! We could look out from our hotel and see the Cape Neddick Lighthouse (also known as Nubble Light).

I ate more Lobster in Maine than I have eaten in my entire life and I don't know that I ever want to eat lobster anywhere else again--it was that good!

Lobster Tortellini Alfredo & Lobster Benedict was from the restaurant that was owned by the hotel we stayed in. I am always a little uneasy about eating at hotel restaurants but our dinner was so good, we ate breakfast there the next day and actually wished we would have just eaten dinner there again the next night. The restaurant we chose the next night was mediocre despite having been highly recommeded by locals.

Had a Maine Blueberry Martini one evening--yum!

And, sampled Maine Blueberry Ice Cream from Brown's Ice Cream Shop right by the Nubble Light (recommended by cooking class friends--Thanks!!)

Oh and I don't want to forget--I had to try a Maine Lobster Roll. Fresh Pulled Lobster chunks tossed with Mayo on a toasted hot Dog Bun--simple perfection!

Drop me an email and let me know how you enjoyed the pictures and my website. Thanks!!
